On January 23, 2006, SAINS proudly launched its newly renovated and carefully designed Data Centre. The launching was preceded by a media conference session with members of the press at Level 20, Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya, Kuching, Sarawak.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, YB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr George Chan, who is also the Chairman of SAINS, chaired the conference and thereon officiated the SAINS Data Centre at Level 3, Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya. Datuk Patinggi was accompanied by the State Secretary, YB Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz bin Dato’ Haji Husain.

The SAINS Data Centre, the first of its kind in the State, is positioned to cater to the growing business needs in the State as more and more organisations leverage on the usage of ICT. With the presence of SAINS Data Centre, it is anticipated that the Government and Commercial sectors in the State can now have a more affordable ICT infrastructure outsourcing service readily available near them.
