Launching Of E-Procurement System In Kuching Water Board (KWB)

May 2, 2006 was a significant high point in the history of one of our key organisation in the State of Sarawak. That day saw the official rolled out of the Integrated E-Procurement System for Kuching Water Board (KWB). At a function held in Holiday Inn Kuching to commemorate the event, the project team proudly presents the workings of the system to their bosses. About 70 KWB employees and their line managers who will be users of the new system witnessed the event.

The E-Procurement system was developed by SAINS with the purpose to implement an online Procurement System to facilitate the procurement activities within the various sections in KWB. The system is one of the final key components of the Integrated Human Resource, Payroll, Financial, Asset & Material Management Systems (HRFAM) project that was kicked-off in late 2004.

The E-Procurement System provides a centralised database for all the requisition and procurement in all the sections in KWB. The employees of KWB, from the General Manager to the officers to the clerical staff in the supply chain, are expected to utilise the system in handling their everyday operation.

  • The benefits of E-Procurement system are:
  • To facilitate paperless request of goods and services by staff
  • To implement electronic approval workflow and notification for requisition and procurement process
  • To enable related supporting documents for approval to be attached for vetting and stored together
  • To facilitate management of supplier profiles as well as quotations and catalogues
  • To provide fast and efficient online query through a centralised database and information repository
  • To generate timely and accurate reports
