MSC EXPO and ICT Week 2004

The 4th MSC Expo this year was themed 'ICT For All' in conjunction with Malaysia ICT Week 2004. SAINS have participated before in this expo, but this would be the first time Sarawak as a team making its grand present at Mines.
Sarawak's objectives in participating were to:

  • Showcase and share on Sarawak State's ICT development and experience with other states, nation-wide and internationally
  • Present Sarawak's strong foundation and capability in organising and managing ICT development in the State
  • Present challenges in achieving pervasive IT infrastructure in the State
  • Position the State as having the critical mass, means, expertise and ideas to optimally leverage and exploit technology, and gain assistance and cooperation with the federal government

Sarawak's booth was stunningly decorated with a unique cultural design based on the theme "Sarawak -Indegenous ICT Solutions".
The State showcased 7 electronic government (EG) application systems, mainly aimed to improve service delivery to the public. They were:

  • e-DUN (Electronic Dewan Undangan Negeri)
  • Angkasa Library Solutions
  • e-Recruitment
  • Talikhidmat
  • SGDC (State Geomatics Data Clearinghouse)
  • e-LA (Electronic Local Authority)
  • EBPP (Electronic Bills Presentment & Payment)

Sarawak's team was lead by the Deputy Chief Minister who is also the Chairman for SITRC, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr George Chan Hong Nam; State Secretary, Datuk Amar Hj Abdul Aziz Husain; Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister's Department (IT), Tuan Hj Bolhassan Di; together with team members from Sains ICT Unit of the Chief Minister's Department, Corporate & Public Relation Unit of the Chief Minister's Department, Public Service Commission, Sibu Municipal Council, Pustaka, and Dewan Undangan Negeri.

This premier ICT events attracted 300 exhibitors from 28 countries, and more than 30,000 visitors comprising of government officials, traders, students and the general public.
