The Sarawak Open Source Competition 2006, is proudly organised by Sarawak Information Systems Sdn. Bhd. (SAINS) in collaboration with the Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU), Chief Minister's Department of Sarawak, with the aims to: -

• Continuously promote ICT utilisation in Sarawak
• Promote public awareness, encourage participation by contributing to Open Source community in Sarawak

The Competition was first held in the year 2004 with the participations mostly from the Institutions of Higher Learning in Sarawak. The Competition, which covers various areas of software and system development, is open to all Malaysian students from Institutions of Higher Learning in Sarawak.
