MoBif Bhd and Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) signed a Memorandum Of Understanding on 30 March 2006 with the intent to collaborate in technology, Research and Development (R&D) and service provision of VoIP-based telephony infrastructure and equipment in Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei Darussalam.
MoBif Berhad will provide turn-key implementation of cost-effective telephony solutions, project management, and regional systems support and maintenance services to SAINS’ clientele in Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei Darussalam which includes government agencies, large local corporations and private companies at large. SAINS is cautiously optimistic of achieving a target of signing up 5,000 VoIP customers by the end of 2006.
The MoU will cover the following core areas of collaboration:
· Technology - Jointly work closely in R&D and Intellectual Property (IP) of the entire range of systems integration and consultancy services, including VoIP telephony turn-key implementation of mission-critical solutions, network infrastructure, project management and regional systems support and maintenance services
· Business and Distributorship - MoBif to provide a turnkey VoIP telephony solutions for connection amongst the buildings, offices and government agencies but not limited to local large corporation particularly in Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei Darussalam.
· Social and Commercial Collaboration - MoBif to support and work closely with SAINS to promote the usage and application of Malaysia-Made ICT solution and telecommunication devices especially amongst the government agencies and ministries.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Teo Tien Hiong (CEO of SAINS Group) and Mr. Kevin Leong (CEO of Mobif) in Kuching Sarawak and was witnessed by the Guest of Honor, Y.B. Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz Bin Haji Husain, the State Secretary of Sarawak.
