Cyberjaya SAINS, a leading ICT solutions provider in Malaysia, recently signed an MOU with Multimedia University (MMU) to pave the way for greater collaboration between the two organizations in the area of Medical Information Technology* or Health Informatics.
Signing on behalf of SAINS was Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz bin Dato Haji Husain, Deputy Chairman of SAINS. Whereas, Prof. Dato' Dr. Muhammad Rasat bin Muhamad, President/CEO, Multimedia University signed for Multimedia University. The signing ceremony was held in MMU Campus in Cyberjaya.
Datuk Dr. Halim bin Safie, the Chairman of Telekom Malaysia and University Telekom Sdn Bhd was on hand to witness the signing together with Ms. Ng Wan Peng, COO of Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC). Also present at the signing ceremony was Associate Professor Dr. Henry Lee Sheldon, Head of Health Informatics, MMU.
In the area of HealthCare Information Technology, SAINS has made significant investments over the last few years and my1HealthCare Solution is the result of such investment efforts. my1HealthCare is one of the very few Malaysian-owned Healthcare products with a whole suite of solutions for Hospitals, Medical Centres and General Practitioners. For this MOU, the two organizations agree to work together for my1HealthCare Solution to be used as a platform for teaching health informatics at MMU and MMU to provide insight and advise on product enhancements and improvements and collaborate with SAINS to develop new modules and functions for integration with my1HealthCare Solution.
This initiative will allow MMU’s Health Informatics students to gain experience on an industrial strength Healthcare Information Management System and also provide opportunities for placement of MMU students in future my1HealthCare projects, giving them very relevant and valuable industrial training.
