KUCHING: More than 200 professionals from the corporate and public sectors attended a network technology seminar yesterday organised by Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (Sains) and Cisco Systems Inc.
The one-day seminar, which was a follow-up to a recent media conference in December, focused on safeguarding businesses through improved network security solutions.
Two main technology papers were presented during the seminar that focused on the trends, threats, and technology of network security and wireless networking solutions.
The main speaker for the event was Raymond Chu from Cisco's regional office in Hong Kong.
Highlights of the seminar included explanations on security features such as monitoring and auditing services, which could be embedded into existing information technology (IT) infrastructures, in order to detect network weaknesses and prevent network intrusion.
Wireless and network products were also exhibited during the seminar.
In a recent press release, Sains explained that in its continuous efforts to update the information and communications technology (ICT) knowledge of local professionals, it teamed up with Cisco Systems to share the latest development in these areas.
The press release also said that the joint seminar was in line with the State government's aim to educate the public on the latest in the ICT industry.
Some of the organisations that participated in the seminar were Telekom, Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMSB) and Public Works Department (JKR).
Sains was incorporated in 1992 and has strategically developed a presence in Malaysia as a leading ICT Systems Integrator and Solutions provider.
It has established close ties with 'best-of-breed' world technology partners like Cisco Systems, to package first-rate products and services into integrated, expandable and affordable solutions for its customers.
