MoBif to expand overseas

KUCHING: MoBif Berhad, a leading VoIP telephony service provider in the country, is targeting to expand its services to 20 countries abroad from current 12, according to its CEO Kevin Leong.

The new markets targetted, he added, would be mostly in Europe and South America.
MoBif, listed on Malaysia's Mesdaq in May2004, provides cost-effective turnkey VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) telephony solutions for both public and private sector companies.

"We are looking forward to more business in large corporations in Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei Darussalam."he said in press conference after the signing of Memorandum of understanding between MoBif Bhd. and Sarawak information system Sdn. Bhd.(SAINS) here yesterday.

The MoU was signed by CEO of SAINS Group, Teo Tien Hiong while Leong signed on behalf of MoBif. Leong said that MoBif and SAINS are expected to sign up an initial target of 5,000 VoIP customers in the regoin by the end of this year.

MoBif specialises in softswitch turnkey solutions, gateway design, network, voice, video and data applications, web-based interface design, e-commerce and innovative system integration.
According to Leong, MoBif overseas market has contributed 30 to 40% of its total revenue and he was optimistic that it would go up to 50% in the next few years.

"Our Group's financial year, which ended in December, has recorded a turnover of RM38m last year." he disclosed.

Meanwhile the MoU between MoBif and SAINS will include joint efforts in Research and Development as well as Intellectual Property (IP) of the entire of systems integration and consultancy services, VoIP telephony turn-key implementation of mission-critical solutions, network infrastructure, project management and regional system support and maintenance services.

MoBif will work closely with SAINS to promote the usage and application of Malaysia-made ICT solutions and telecommunications devices especially in governnent agencies and various ministries. Also present to witness the MoU signing was State's Secretary, Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz Haji Husain who is also the deputy chairman of SAINS.
