Customers can now make full use of EBPP service

(The Malaysian Today; October 15th, 2003)

KUCHING - The state government recorded another break-through in its Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) programme when it signed an EBPP service agreement with Maybank here yesterday

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr George Chan witnessed the signing, between SiliconNet Technologies Sdn Bhd for the state and the bank.

Customers can now undertake online bill payments for payee corporations from state government agencies and private organisations.

Speaking at the occasion, State Secretary Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz Husain, who is SiliconNet Technologies chairman, said the signing was further proof of the state government's seriousness in building a k-society and e-society

"It is also hoped that with this collaboration, the state government's objective of extending the EBPP service to the rakyat will be further realised through the bank's large customer base," he said.

He said the service would continue to grow and expand to include all forms of bills for the convenience of consumers.

"The government is taking great efforts to ensure this will happen as early as possible, and, at the same time, consumers are urged to make full use of the service," he said, adding that they were free to visit the EBPP website at wwwpay-billsmalaysia.com.

Maybank Group vice chairman Datuk Richard Ho was among those present.
