SS: Make full use of all electronic govt programmes

(The Malaysian Today; July 1st, 2004)

KUCHING: Members of the public were yesterday urged to make full use of all the Sarawak Electronic-Govern-ment (EG) programmes which have been developed for their convenience.

Making the call, State Sec-retary Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz Husain said the public, had a key role in ensuring the success or failure of the state's EG programmes.

"Therefore I urge the public to fully support and use our EG systems. I am sure that the State Public Service will be more motivated by a strong show of support and use of its EG systems by the public," he said when giving a briefing on the state government online Job Appli-cation System, e-Recruitment and Optimal Mark Reader (OMR) form usage here yesterday.

The Sarawak EG pro-gramme comprises three sub-programme intra agency system, government-to-government system (G2G) or inter-agency application and the public-oriented application or better known as government-to-citizen (G2C) system.

The e-Recruitment system is an example of the G2C system which is considered the most important as it addresses directly the needs of the public who are the government's customers, he said.

The state secretary said introduction of the e-Recruitment system was also in line with the state government's target to achieve full implementation of electronic-government in the State Public Service by the end of 2008.

The system would be a one-stop-centre for job applicants as they would no longer need to deal with different agencies and submit different applications, he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Sarawak Public Service Commission Tan Sri Haji Hamdan Sirat said since its launching last year, the use of the e-recruitment ' system had been very encouraging with 30,000 job applicants accessing the portal.

To make it easier for the applicants to enter data, the State Public Service Commission had introduced the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) form or' 'Borang SPA Negeri 2.

He said so far the PSC had 1 processed 555 job applications and put out 78 advertisements through the e-Recruitment system.

Applications for jobs through e-Recruitment can be made via www.e-recruitment.gov.my or www.myonestopsarawak.com.my or by filling in the "Borang SPA Negeri 2" which is sold at RM3 per set. - Bernama.
