The State Geomatics Data Clearinghouse (SGDC) serves as a centrally managed GIS Portal and Repository for relevant government agencies to share their regional geospatial datasets and information to support planning and decision-making in the public and private sectors.

It provides a technological framework to acquire, exchange and maintain a consistent geospatial database and data development information thus reducing duplication among government agencies.

Access to geospatial data is controlled thus allowing only authorised and trained personnel to retrieve or update the database. SGDC keeps computer log files for each access and exchange of data between agencies.
